On Sunday 13 August 2017, the world’s largest fun run race took place with over 80,000 participants from all around the world taking on the most iconic course in Australia between Sydney’s CBD and Bondi Beach.  nuun was the official hydration sponsor for the highly popular event with more than 200,000 nuun cups produced and nearly 30,000 litres provided to all participants along the challenging 14km course. 


Adding to the success was a win by reigning City2Surf champion Harry Summers, who successfully defended his 2016 title in a fiercely contested men’s race. Harry was also a nuun ambassador for the event day and was sporting the nuun singlet for the race, gaining additional coverage for the brand.
We also delivered engaging content leading up to the race with social media posts on training and hydration tips from our nuun Ambassador Adam Denison and Head Personal Trainer Dr Stacy Sims.  
Other highlights of the day included nuun skywriting, which was scheduled at the start line of the race and two additional at the finish line down at Bondi Beach. We also sold nuun and provided sampling prior to the event at the CITYFIT Expo which took place in the new International Convention Centre at Darling Harbour.

The event was broadcast through Facebook Live on SMH.com.au and CityRunSeries to an estimated 1 million viewers, as well as featuring on every national TV news network. 

It was the biggest activation to date for nuun and was considered a huge success for us and for the nuun brand. The next big nuun-sponsored running event will be happening in November with the Melbourne City 2 Sea - we'll keep you posted with more details about this event closer to the date.
